MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

Individual Fundraising:
The AVGPA organizes many opportunities for individual gymnasts to raise money to offset the costs of competition. These opportunities are discussed at AVGPA monthly meetings and communicated via email and Facebook. Gymnasts have sold discount movie tickets and gift cards, participated in a Close Buy fundraiser and spent time tagging at local businesses. The AVGPA receives 10% of monies raised, while 90% is deposited into individual accounts and can be used by gymnasts to purchase uniforms or warm-ups, to pay for clinics or meet fees for the season, or to cover the cost of summer gymnastics camps. These individual funds cannot be used to pay for regular gymnastics instruction.

Group Fundraising:
The AVGPA coordinates several group fundraisers each year. Among other things, the AVGPA runs a food booth at the Great Falls Balloon Festival, sells concessions and raffle tickets at home meets and collects bottles for redemption. Money raised through these fundraisers is deposited into a general account; AVGPA members discuss and vote upon how the funds will be spent. In the past, funds have been used to purchase safety equipment for the gym, to send gymnasts to major national meets, and to send coaches to regional and national competitions. The AVGPA is always open to new ideas for both individual and group fundraisers.

Event coordination:
The AVGPA is instrumental in coordinating and operating the Andy Valley boys’ and girls’ home meets. The group also plans and executes the Annual Meeting Banquet, which takes place in the spring after the completion of regular season competition.

Team support:
The AVGPA coordinates many “extras” throughout the year to support the Andy Valley Gymnastics competitive team and to foster community spirit and morale.

The AVGPA:

  • works with team parents to coordinate a bulk discount leotard purchase just before the holidays each year
  • orders custom monogrammed t-shirts and decals which are sold to team gymnasts and their families for a nominal fee
  • plans a “secret Santa” gift exchange after the Andy Valley exhibition in December
  • plans the end-of-year banquet and purchases trophies to distribute to gymnasts at the banquet
  • purchases end-of-year coaches’ gifts
  • purchases flowers for the girls’ gymnasts at the state meet (boys’ gymnasts receive a credit toward their meet fees in lieu of flowers)
  • hires a photographer and organizes team photos each year
